The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

Belly’s never been the kind of girl that things happen to. Year after year, she’s spent her summers at the beach house with Conrad and Jeremiah. The boys never noticed Belly noticing them. And every summer she hoped it would be different. This time, it was. But the summer Belly turned pretty was the summer that changed everything. For better, and for worse.

The Main character is annoying. I just wanted to get that out. She's impulsive, hard-headed, fake, and named Belly (?).  The rare good thing about this book is the sequels. The sequels are So much better than the first, but you have to get through the first book to get to the others.

Belly is pretty dim. She brings stereotypical teenage girls to a whole new level! (Although she really is pretty on the cover). She has no idea about guys and she acts without thinking all the time. She's rough and tough also, but it really doesn't suit her. And since she is a stereotypical teen, her life revolves around the male species. Therefore the plot is pretty flimsy, but it has a nice growth to it along with the sequels. Belly grows up to be a less annoying lady in the end and she has to make some earth shattering decisions, so that is worth reading. You just have to get through the first book.    Plot: 2/5 stars    Cover 2.5/5 stars.   -Katie
