The Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine

When a plague strikes Bamarre, Princess Addie must save her sister.
Brave and adventureous, Princess Meryl dreams of fighting dragons and protecting the kingdom of Bamarre. Shy and fearful, Princess Addie is content to stay within the safety of the castle walls. The one thing that the sisters share is their unwavering love for each other.
The tables are turned, however, when the Gray Death leaves Meryl fatally ill. To save her sister, meek Princess Addie must find the courage to set out on a dangerous quest filled with dragons, unknown magic, and death itself. Time is running out, and the sisters' lives—and the future of the kingdom of Bamarre—hang in the balance.

I just want to get this out right quick... Isn't this a beautiful cover? It really is! Ok, now that I'm done with that I should start out by saying I read this book in 4th grade. Of course it was about princesses so my little 4th grade self was intrigued, but this is actually a kick-butt princess story. And it might be interesting to mention that this is the ONLY book I've read twice. In. My. Life. Now I'm not saying that it's just the most phenomenal book I've read, because it's not, It's just that Gail Carson Levine is a divine author. This story has it all: dragons, love, plagues, ogres, shape-shifting devil creature, sorcerers, etc! Even if you don't like princess stories you should read this, because it's not about being a princess at all. It's about having some serious girl power. So, whether you're in 4th grade or you're 14 now like me, it's worth a trip to the library.   Pot: 4/5 stars  Cover:4.5/5 stars   -Katie
