From Goodreads:Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy. Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side. As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?
Unearthly has to be one of the best paranormal YA books I've read this year! I just couldn't put it down, and that alone proves to me it was a marvelous read. I highly recommend this to whoever is into angels (I think they are definitely trending in YA right now!), cliffhangers, and cute love stories! Initially, I thought the book went through kind of slow. But I can promise the ending is fast paced and includes some shocking revelations! Clara, the protagonist, isn't your usual run of the mill heroines. She doesn't have any characteristic that makes her stick out too much, (except for orange hair!) but she is strong and handles situations well. Angela, her friend, and Jeffery, her brother, are also fantastic characters but are somewhat of an enigma. I know they are hiding something! The relationship also take a shocking turn! And Tucker, oh Tucker, is one of the sweetest YA heroes I have come by. The book has a lot of potential and it is going places! I will definately be picking up the sequel, Hallowed, in January when it comes out! -Palak:)
5 Stars!
